The 8th International Strategy and Security Forum was recently held in Beijing. Organized by the Center for Strategy and Security Studies at Tsinghua University, the forum’s theme was “Turning Points in the Global Order: Cognitive Shifts and Choosing the Future.” Over 60 renowned experts, scholars, and policy analysts from the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, India, Germany, Switzerland, South Korea, Singapore, and other countries participated in in-depth discussions on major topics such as the evolution of the international order, great power relations, and regional security challenges.

Against the backdrop of ongoing Middle East conflicts and their expanding spillover effects, experts from China and abroad agreed that the current Middle East situation is impacting the security, stability, and economic development of other regions, highlighting a global governance and security deficit. Experts believe that the world is undergoing profound changes, with a multipolar pattern becoming increasingly evident. The transition period presents both challenges and opportunities. The existing global governance system struggles to adapt to multipolar trends, necessitating the establishment of new mechanisms alongside reforms of old ones, with countries working together to promote new rules and organizational structures.

Meanwhile, in the process of transforming the international order, various forces are profoundly influencing the global landscape, and the role of middle-sized countries is becoming increasingly prominent. (Xinhua News Agency)
