On the morning of February 27th, Meizu posted an announcement on its official Weibo account in response to recent issues such as the “halt of phone operations.” Meizu stated that it will suspend the development of new domestic mobile phone hardware projects and is actively engaging with third-party hardware partners. Meanwhile, its existing business remains unaffected. “In recent years, the competition in the domestic mobile phone market has been more intense than expected. Many brands have gradually scaled back their strategies. Despite numerous difficulties, we continue to do our best, hoping to maintain normal iteration of Meizu phones. However, the ongoing surge in memory prices has made the commercial launch of new products impossible,” Meizu said.

Earlier reports indicated that Meizu’s phone business has effectively halted and is expected to officially exit the smartphone market in March. Additionally, the Meizu 23 series, originally scheduled for release mid-year, has been discontinued, with many employees in the phone business department leaving or transferring to other roles.
