Housing resources +596! Chongqing will newly allocate 12,000 affordable rental housing units this year.
On March 26, the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee announced the opening of three major rental housing projects: Chenyu Caiyun Lake, Wulidian, and Haitang Creek, providing a total of 596 units. This year, Chongqing plans to newly allocate 12,000 units of affordable rental housing and will also develop a number of high-standard boutique youth apartment projects.

At the Chenyu Caiyun Lake project, the second-floor public area features multifunctional spaces such as a reception area, gym, study room, laundry room, and e-sports room to meet residents’ diverse needs. The rooms are bright and tidy, fully furnished with beds, desks, wardrobes, and more. The entire apartment uses modular decoration, which is environmentally friendly and cost-efficient. Xiaomi’s smart home system is integrated, allowing control of lighting, appliances, furniture, and security through automatic sensors or voice commands.

Fang Chen from Chengdu, Sichuan, is among the first tenants of Chenyu apartments. “The apartment is beautifully decorated, fully equipped, and move-in ready. What attracts me most is the access control, elevator control, and concierge services. It’s very safe for a single woman,” she said.
Zhang Tao, General Manager of the Public Housing Company of Chongqing Real Estate Group, introduced that the three projects opened this time each have their focus. Among them, Chenyu Caiyun Lake Youth Apartments offer 317 units, including single rooms with amenities, one-bedroom units, and fully smart apartments. They also launched a multi-occupant dormitory for new employment groups such as courier and food delivery workers, with prices starting at 1,250 yuan per month for a single room and 600 yuan per month per bed.
It is understood that the project has partnered with the “Wang Zhizhi” study room brand to create the country’s first self-service apartment study room, “Chenyu Zhizhi Study,” with 20 seats, offering value-added services such as tea and printing, to meet the study needs of civil service exam takers, graduate students, and office workers.

Chenyu Wulidian Youth Apartment is located near Guanyinqiao Commercial Circle and Jiangbei Zui Central Business District, at the intersection of Lines 6, Ring Line, and Line 9, with 54 fully furnished single units. Haitang Creek Youth Apartment is close to Haitang Creek Station on the Ring Line, offering 99 boutique apartments, including two- and three-bedroom units suitable for families or those seeking improved living conditions.
Zhang Tao stated that currently, Chenyu has activated approximately 470,000 square meters of idle state-owned assets, implementing 31 rental housing projects with over ten thousand units, serving tens of thousands of new residents and young people. In the future, they will actively explore multiple channels to activate existing assets, optimize the supply of affordable housing, and ensure that new citizens and youth moving to Chongqing can rent comfortably and live happily.
A relevant official from the Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Committee said that Chongqing has currently allocated 302,000 units of affordable rental housing, with 214,000 units put into use, solving the housing needs of over 400,000 new citizens and young people. Moving forward, Chongqing will focus on industrial development, talent attraction, and urban renewal, targeting urban renewal areas, commercial districts, and densely populated new employment zones. The city will optimize the supply of affordable housing, promote the activation of existing stock to increase new supply, and aim to newly allocate 12,000 units of affordable rental housing throughout the year to foster integrated industry and city development and balanced employment and residence.
