European Commission: Ready to take action to defend interests

The European Commission warns that the EU is prepared to take action to defend its interests in response to U.S. President Trump’s threats against Spain. A European Commission spokesperson stated, “The EU is fully united with all member states and their citizens and will take necessary actions through our common trade policies to safeguard EU interests.” On March 3rd local time, U.S. President Trump, during a meeting with German Chancellor Merkel at the White House, criticized Spain for “lacking cooperation” in Iran-related attacks and announced that all trade relations between the U.S. and Spain would be severed because Spain is “a poor ally.” (CCTV News)
