People’s Financial News, March 25 — The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced the economic operation of the telecommunications industry for the first two months of 2026, with total telecommunications services maintaining growth. In the first two months, telecommunications revenue totaled 290.4 billion yuan, a decrease of 1.7% year-on-year. Adjusted for constant prices from the previous year, the total telecommunications volume increased by 8.4% year-on-year. The scale of gigabit users continues to expand. As of the end of February, the three major basic telecom operators had a total of 694 million fixed internet broadband access users, a net increase of 3.167 million compared to the end of last year. Among them, fixed internet broadband users with access speeds of 100 Mbps or higher reached 662 million, accounting for 95.5% of the total users; users with access speeds of 1000 Mbps or higher reached 245 million, a net increase of 6.37 million from the end of last year, accounting for 35.3% of the total users, an increase of 0.8 percentage points compared to the end of last year.
