Abstract generation in progress

Gemini Fully Unlocked! Google announced on March 16th that it will gradually open its flagship generative AI tool Gemini to all users in Hong Kong, ending the long-standing restriction where Hong Kong users had to rely on VPNs or Google Workspace accounts to access it. This release includes multimodal features such as text, voice, and images, which are expected to significantly change the way local users work and live.

As of the evening of March 26th, Gemini has officially launched on the Hong Kong App Store, allowing users to download directly without switching regions. For Android users, Gemini-related features can currently be accessed through “Google Assistant.”

On the evening of March 25th, users could log in with their Google account at https://gemini.google.com/app to successfully use Gemini without a VPN.

Gemini allows users to directly utilize Google’s advanced AI models to assist with daily tasks, including writing complex emails, brainstorming personal plans, and organizing family trips. As a multimodal tool, Gemini offers more possibilities for interacting with information through text, images, and voice.

Breaking Text Barriers: Introducing Multimodal Video and Audio Generation Technology

Gemini brings comprehensive multimodal processing capabilities. In addition to standard text processing, logical reasoning, and data analysis, it introduces several advanced multimedia generation tools:

  • Image Generation and Editing: Using the latest Nano Banana 2 model (officially named Gemini 3 Flash Image), supporting text-to-image creation, image synthesis, style transfer, and detailed editing.
  • High-Quality Video Generation: Powered by the Veo model, users can generate high-resolution videos directly from text commands, with automatic background sound (built-in safety mechanisms filter inappropriate content).
  • Music Production: Using the Lyria 3 model, the system can generate high-quality music up to 30 seconds long, supporting auto-lyrics and realistic singing in multiple languages.

(Some advanced generation tools may require a paid upgrade / subject to the latest official offerings)

Gemini Live: Real-Time Voice and Visual Sharing Interaction

Another focus of this update is Gemini Live, exclusive to the mobile app version. This feature transforms traditional AI Q&A into natural, real-time voice interactions, allowing users to interrupt and add to the conversation at any time.

Additionally, Gemini Live features “visual sharing.” Users can share their phone camera or screen to let AI “see” physical objects or screen content (such as product parts or foreign language menus) and provide real-time voice guidance and answers.

Free Version vs Paid Version: Features and Ecosystem Integration

To meet different user needs, Google offers a basic free version (Basic Tier) and an advanced paid version (AI Plus / Pro / Ultra).

  • The paid versions include the more powerful Gemini 3.1 Pro model and deeper integration with Google apps:
  • Ecosystem Connectivity: Link with Google Calendar to help plan personal schedules and travel routes; collaborate across Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides), perform data analysis, and create content.
  • The main difference lies in usage quotas.
