Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that if necessary, a gasoline export ban could be reimposed, and a meeting with oil companies will be held tomorrow to discuss this matter.

He also stated that Russia’s flagship products, Urals crude oil and its petroleum products, are currently trading at prices equal to or even higher than Brent crude oil.

Last year, as Ukraine increased attacks on Russian refineries and seasonal fuel demand surged, several regions in Russia and parts of Ukraine controlled by Russia reported gasoline shortages.

To curb rising fuel prices and address supply shortages, Russia has repeatedly imposed restrictions on gasoline and diesel exports.

Industry sources say that Russia exported nearly 5 million tons of gasoline last year, equivalent to about 117,100 barrels per day.
