Qianwen is about to give a lecture to students! Launching AI-powered textbook teaching capabilities, initially covering elementary school Chinese and Math.
On March 17, news from Alibaba reported that in response to the “back-to-school syndrome” commonly experienced by students and parents during the start of the school season, Qianwen APP has undergone a comprehensive upgrade to improve learning capabilities. The updates include targeted solutions such as new AI-powered textbook explanations, error correction notebooks, and automatic re-practice of mistakes, as well as synchronized enhancements to question-answering and homework grading features, helping students and parents adapt more quickly to the new semester’s learning pace.
This upgrade focuses on three main scenarios. First, “difficulty in getting started with new lessons,” with the launch of the “Small Lecture Hall” AI textbook explanation feature. The initial coverage includes Chinese and math textbooks for grades 1 through 6, supporting interactive and engaging explanations of fairy tales, fables, classics, and other reading materials. Through voice explanations, dynamic illustrations, and guided Q&A, abstract concepts are transformed into vivid and understandable content, helping students quickly build interest and foundational understanding.
Second, “no ideas for solving problems,” with an upgrade to the “Photo Question Answering” feature. It can accurately recognize various difficult problems with images and, like an experienced teacher, break down thought processes and explain methods. Instead of simply providing answers, Qianwen emphasizes explaining the reasoning process, demonstrating step-by-step solutions to help students grasp knowledge points and techniques through practice.
Third, “fear of making mistakes on homework,” with an upgrade to grading entire pages of homework and test papers across all subjects for elementary, middle, and high school. After grading, Qianwen automatically collects incorrect answers, organizes them by subject into a mistake notebook, reducing the time students spend manually sorting errors and allowing parents to quickly understand their child’s weaknesses over the semester. Additionally, the mistake notebook supports re-practice of errors, targeted exercises based on common mistakes, and can generate printable practice books.
As Wu Jia, President of the Qianwen Consumer Business Group, mentioned in an interview in February regarding the popularity of Qianwen, the original intention was not to compete or “fight” with others, nor to engage in internal competition. Instead, the goal is to integrate AI into everyday life for ordinary people. “This is an inevitable development for the future.”
Wu Jia believes that this wave of AI applications will position China at the forefront of the world. “I believe that through competition among various models, continuous progress will be made. We will also keep pursuing higher intelligence and technological advancement. Combining these, we firmly believe that technology should not only aim for the stars and the sea but also serve everyday life.”
