Gold, silver, and crude oil are experiencing intense fluctuations. Major news from the Middle East: progress has been made in US-Iran negotiations. Trump stated that Iran has allowed 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz, but he said there is no rush to reach an agreement, and the US military will continue bombing Iran.

On March 27, international spot gold and silver both opened higher, with latest prices at $4,400.97 per ounce and $68.596 per ounce. Yesterday, gold and silver both fell sharply. In the domestic futures night session, Shanghai Gold fell nearly 3%, closing at ¥980.08 per gram; Shanghai Silver dropped even more, by 5.66%.

International oil prices surged yesterday but opened lower today. As of press time, WTI crude oil was at $93.33 per barrel, down 1.22%. Yesterday, WTI closed up 4.6%, and Brent crude rose 5.66%.

The three major US stock indices all closed lower: the Nasdaq fell 2.38%, the S&P 500 declined 1.74%, and the Dow dropped 1.01%. Tech stocks mostly declined: SanDisk fell over 11%, Meta nearly 8%, AMD and Western Digital dropped over 7%, Intel and Micron Technology fell over 6%, Nvidia declined over 4%, and Tesla dropped over 3%. The Nasdaq China Golden Dragon Index fell 2.55%. Popular Chinese concept stocks weakened: Xpeng Motors dropped over 6%, Bilibili and Baidu declined over 4%, Alibaba and NIO fell over 3%.

On the news front, Middle East tensions, progress in US-Iran negotiations, and the latest developments in the Strait of Hormuz remain focal points.

President Trump has postponed airstrikes on Iran’s energy facilities by another 10 days but denied that he is eager to reach an agreement, stating that the US military will continue bombing Iran. If the US and Iran reach a “correct agreement,” the Strait of Hormuz will be open. He also mentioned that Iran allowing 10 oil tankers to pass through the Strait is a “gift.”

On the afternoon of the 26th, Trump posted on social media that “at Iran’s request,” he has delayed the destruction of Iran’s energy facilities by 10 days, until 8 p.m. Eastern Time on April 6 (8 a.m. Beijing Time on April 7). Trump said negotiations are ongoing and progressing “very smoothly.”
