The 8th Meeting of the Mainland and Macau Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee was held in Beijing.
People’s Financial News, March 25 — According to the Ministry of Commerce website, on March 25, Assistant Minister of Commerce Yuan Xiaoming and Dai Jianye, Director of the Economic and Financial Department of the Macao SAR Government, jointly presided over the 8th Mainland-Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee meeting. Yuan Xiaoming stated that 2026 marks the beginning of the 14th Five-Year Plan. Macao is currently preparing its “Three-Five” plan. Holding this meeting of the Mainland-Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee at this time is of great significance for supporting Macao’s proactive alignment with the “Fourteen Five” plan and deepening economic and trade relations between the two regions. The Ministry of Commerce will further promote the expansion and implementation of CEPA, support Macao’s participation in jointly building the Belt and Road Initiative, assist in the development of the Macao China-Portugal platform, and promote moderate diversification of Macao’s economy. Dai Jianye said that, benefiting from a series of central measures favorable to Macao, various industries in Macao are developing steadily. Under the leadership of the central government, Macao will fully, accurately, and unswervingly implement the “One Country, Two Systems” policy, properly respond to various risks and challenges, and maintain long-term prosperity and stability. The Macao SAR Government is willing to work with the Ministry of Commerce to effectively play the role of the Mainland-Macao Economic and Trade Cooperation Committee and further deepen economic and trade cooperation between the two regions. After the meeting, both sides signed a memorandum of understanding. Representatives from the Central Office for Hong Kong and Macao Affairs, the National Development and Reform Commission, and other units attended the meeting.
