In the AI-driven hardware transformation, Xiaomi is launching a saturation attack with unprecedented capital intensity.

On the evening of March 19, at the spring new product launch, Xiaomi founder Lei Jun announced a major investment plan: over the next three years, Xiaomi expects to invest more than 60 billion yuan in the AI field. Of that, AI R&D and capital expenditures for 2026 alone have already exceeded 16 billion yuan. This marks Xiaomi Technology Co., Ltd. accelerating its transformation from a smartphone manufacturer into a base-layer AI technology powerhouse.

Model family hits the stage: MiMo-V2 ushering in the Agent era

The core highlight of this launch is Xiaomi’s deeply self-developed flagship large-model series:

Flagship leadership: It introduces the flagship model MiMo-V2-Pro for the Agent era, with exceptionally strong capabilities for task decomposition and autonomous execution.

Full-modal coverage: At the same time, V2-Omni multimodal large model and the V2-TTS speech large model are released, completing the loop for AI interactions across vision, hearing, and text.

Ecosystem downscaling: The model series has already officially landed on multiple Xiaomi terminal products, enabling a rapid transformation from technology to experience.

Hardcore implementation: The first AI-native phone and smart cockpit upgrade

At the event, Lei Jun demonstrated the deep integration of AI technology across Xiaomi’s “phone-car-home” full ecosystem:

Phone form-factor reimagining: Xiaomi’s first AI-native phone, Xiaomi Miclaw, has officially started closed testing. Built from the ground up in architecture, the device aims to deliver a disruptive AI interaction experience compared with traditional approaches.

Intelligent mobility evolution: The new generation of Xiaomi SU7 achieves an upgrade with full-system standard configuration, equipped with the XLA cognitive large model and a brand-new Pengpai intelligent cockpit. With AI technology, the in-car system can not only understand commands, but can also use logical reasoning to proactively understand the driver’s intent.

Capital confidence: Build a “technology moat” by investing 60 billion

The planned investment of up to 60 billion yuan shows Xiaomi’s firm commitment to its AI strategy. In today’s two major core arenas—smartphones and electric vehicles—growing increasingly intense, Lei Jun clearly hopes to build Xiaomi’s own “technology safe harbor” through self-controlled large-model technology.

Conclusion: Xiaomi’s “speed” in the AI era

From launching its self-developed large model, to closed testing of its first AI-native phone, and then to fully AI-enabling its smart vehicles, Xiaomi is proving its presence in the AI track with exceptionally strong execution. As 60 billion yuan in funding steadily turns into R&D results, the Xiaomi that “always believes that good things are about to happen” may be getting ready to redefine everyday intelligence for the masses with AI once again.
