ETH (Ether) is the native cryptocurrency of the Ethereum blockchain. Ethereum was proposed by Vitalik Buterin and officially launched in July 2015.

Core Uses

1. Paying Gas Fees: ETH is required to pay transaction fees for executing smart contracts, transfers, and other operations;

2. Staking and Mining: In the 2022 upgrade, Ethereum transitioned to a Proof of Stake (PoS) consensus mechanism. Staking ETH allows validators to earn rewards, significantly reducing energy consumption;

3. Value Exchange and Investment: Traded on major global exchanges, it is the second-largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization;

4. DeFi/NFT/DApp Ecosystem: Ethereum is the core underlying platform for decentralized finance, non-fungible tokens, and decentralized applications.
