Ukrainian ferroalloy exports from January to February decreased by 95.6% year-on-year
On March 16, the State Customs Service of Ukraine reported that in January and February of this year, Ukraine’s ferroalloy export volume fell by 95.6% year-on-year, totaling only 837 tons. In terms of value, the export decrease was similarly staggering, dropping by 94% to $1.2 million. This sharp decline is due to increased missile and drone attacks by Russia on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure during the winter, leading to widespread power shortages that disrupted production and logistics chains. According to the Ukrainian Ferroalloy Producers Association (UkrFa), the country’s two major ferroalloy smelting plants—Nikopol Ferroalloy Plant and Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant—suspended production in January due to power supply interruptions and high electricity prices. In February alone, the export volume plummeted from 765 tons in January to 72 tons. (My Steel Network)
