“After working for 18 and a half years, no salary was paid, only an IOU” A 70-year-old man reports being owed 430,000 yuan in unpaid wages for 18 and a half years!

Now 74 years old, Wang Chaowen joined the local supply and marketing cooperative in 1993. Since he started, the local supply and marketing cooperative has never paid cash wages, only issuing IOUs. This has accumulated to 222 months, totaling over 430,000 yuan.

Over the years, he has faced countless setbacks in his pursuit of wages. In 2010, he filed a lawsuit, and in 2013, the court recognized the labor relationship but ruled that due to some claims exceeding the statute of limitations, only three years’ worth of wages would be paid. The elderly man was dissatisfied and continued to fight for his rights.

In 2018, after negotiations involving multiple departments, his 18 and a half years of service were confirmed, and an agreement was made to calculate the unpaid wages. However, this agreement was ultimately not executed. Now, faced with a total debt of 430,000 yuan, the local supply and marketing cooperative has only proposed a solution of just over 30,000 yuan, which is a huge gap.

On March 20, staff from the Lingyuan City supply and marketing cooperative responded that they had paid the other party three years’ wages according to the judgment but were rejected, and there are currently no additional payment plans.
