Iran has stopped supplying natural gas to southern Iraq.
On the 28th, local time, an Iraqi Ministry of Electricity spokesperson, Ahmad Abadi, said that Iran has stopped supplying natural gas to southern areas of Iraq since the evening of the 27th. Previously, Iran had been supplying 10 million cubic meters of natural gas per day. Abadi said that the amount of natural gas Iran is currently supplying to Iraq’s central regions is also limited to 10 million cubic meters per day. Abadi noted that the ongoing unstable situation in the region is affecting oil extraction, production, and exports within Iraq. The Iraqi Ministry of Electricity is closely monitoring the regional situation to ensure that any restrictions imposed by Iran do not affect the fuel supply needed by power plants in Iraq. (CCTV News)
