Kunming March 31 Report As of March 31, in Yunnan Province, the volume of green electricity trading in the first quarter of 2026 has exceeded 600 million kWh, reaching 626 million kWh, up 219% year-on-year from the same period in 2025.

Continuously deepening efforts to cultivate the green power market, the Kunming Power Trading Center has been focused on improving green electricity trading services. Since it officially launched green electricity trading in 2022, the cumulative volume of green electricity trading in Yunnan Province has already exceeded 3.1 billion kWh.

Characteristic industrial ecosystems such as “green electricity + advanced manufacturing,” “green electricity + intelligent computing,” and “green electricity + cultural tourism” in Yunnan Province are accelerating in emergence and robust development. Key energy-consuming industry enterprises within the province, including those in electrolytic aluminum and data centers, are gradually achieving high-proportion green electricity consumption, driving new breakthroughs in industrial enabling through “green electricity +.”

In May 2025, Yunnan became the first in the country to achieve the free transfer of existing conventional hydropower green certificates. To date, the cumulative number of certificates transferred to the “free” category has exceeded 243 million, directly benefiting 71,800 power-consuming enterprises. Recently, the “Implementation Plan (Trial) for the Transfer of Existing Conventional Hydropower Green Certificates in Yunnan Province” was officially issued. Through this transfer mechanism, Yunnan expects to be able to transfer more than 100 million green certificates free of charge to electricity-consuming enterprises in the province each year, equivalent to more than 100 billion kWh.
