Hesai Technology signs FTX laser radar fixed-point contract with NIU Electric

On March 17, Hesai (HSAI.US) Technology and Niu Electric (NIU.US) announced that they have reached an in-depth strategic cooperation. Hesai’s FTX pure solid-state blind-spot radar has officially been selected as the endpoint for Niu Electric’s all-new two-wheel vehicle models for two additional rounds. The two sides will jointly integrate core technologies and industrial resources to accelerate the large-scale deployment of lidar in electric two-wheeler scenarios.

In terms of environmental perception, Niu’s all-domain sensing system will be equipped with Hesai’s second-generation pure solid-state blind-spot radar FTX, helping enable safe perception for complex urban roads. As an automotive-grade pure solid-state lidar, FTX features a maximum ultra-wide field of view angle of 180°×140°, enabling precise identification of pedestrians, vehicles, and complex road environments. It will provide all-weather, high-definition sensing capabilities for intelligent two-wheeled vehicles, and will become the vehicle’s “super eyes” in complex urban scenarios.

According to data from Gaisey Research Institute, by the end of 2025, the penetration rate of lidar across the entire passenger car market has reached 19%, first crossing the 16% “hump critical point,” entering a new stage of large-scale adoption. In the robotics field, lidar has also been widely used in Robotaxi, RoboVan, embodied intelligence, lawn-mowing robots, commercial cleaning robots, and other applications as a core spatial-sensing component, empowering thousands of industries. Now, Hesai, together with Niu Electric, will once again reduce the “dimensionality” of lidar to empower capabilities and jointly build a new paradigm for intelligent safety in the two-wheeler mobility market.
