Zelensky visits Syria to "promote" weapons and grain

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy arrived in Syria on the 5th—his first visit to Syria since the two countries restored diplomatic relations last September. According to multiple media reports, Zelenskyy’s trip aims to sell the new Syrian administration anti-drone systems and grain. Later on the 5th, Zelenskyy said on social media that he held talks in Damascus with Syria’s transitional government president, Shara al-Bashir, and they agreed to strengthen security cooperation. Zelenskyy also said he told Shara al-Bashir that Ukraine, as a major grain-producing country, is a “reliable supplier of grain,” and is willing to contribute to food security in the Middle East.
