OpenAI Announces Personnel Changes, Product and Business President Fidji Simo, in a memorandum to employees, said that her health has been especially bad over the past month, affected by the worsening of a neuro-immune disease, and that she has decided to take a few weeks off in the hope that it will help her recover.

“During my time in this role, I kept postponing medical checkups and new therapies, just so I could fully focus on my work and not miss any day. But two weeks before my leave, I took my first time off to undergo some medical checkups, and now it is very clear that it was truly too much for me to handle. I really need to try a new treatment approach to stabilize my health.”

Fidji Simo previously held multiple leadership roles at Meta (U.S.: META) and worked there for more than a decade.

During Fidji Simo’s leave, OpenAI CEO Greg Brockman will be responsible for overseeing product and business, while Chief Operating Officer Brad Lightcap will transition to a new role focused on “special projects” and will report directly to CEO Sam Altman.
