Since this year, Beiyuan Group of the Shaanxi Coal and Chemical Industry Group has continued to delve deeply into four business philosophies, taking opening up new sources and expanding incremental value, as well as tightening cost controls and reducing costs, as key levers. By racing against time, seizing opportunities to ensure progress, stabilizing production, and promoting reform, it has advanced for higher quality and efficiency, playing the “overture of spring” for high-quality development.

Lean production reduces costs

Beiyuan Group adheres to organizing production with a marketing mindset. It establishes a dynamic product marginal benefit calculation model, continuously and in real time optimizes operating modes, and implements 76 measures such as “standard operating procedures listed in a clear checklist.” It carries out special incentives for long-cycle stable operation, significantly improving the quality and efficiency of production operations, with the unplanned shutdown rate for non-scheduled stops reduced by more than 20%. It applies the equipment integrity system in depth, strengthens whole life-cycle management, and vigorously promotes self-maintenance; the proportion of self-maintenance increases by more than 10%, effectively reducing outsourced repair expenses. It increases efforts to localize and replace imported materials, identifies 1,210 imported items of equipment and spare parts, and lists 532 items into the domestication and replacement roster. At the same time, it advances both electrical intelligent upgrades and boiler combustion intelligent control. By using information technology to achieve fine-grained, end-to-end management of equipment, it is expected to reduce more than 3,000 manual inspection visits on average per year. It achieves 1% coal savings, an automatic control rate of 98%, and reduces the fluctuation rate of key process indicators by 50%, thereby promoting cost reduction and efficiency gains in production from “points” to “a whole area.”

Technical breakthroughs tackle hard problems

Beiyuan Group increases its efforts to tackle production difficulties. It carries out heat and power 1#机组、4# furnace efficiency-improvement upgrades, and implements 26 technical renovation projects including the upgrade of DCS control systems. It focuses on addressing bottleneck issues such as unstable mother liquor water operation and corrosion and leakage in the ammonia stripping tower. It strengthens energy-saving diagnostics, demonstrates large-area electrolytic cell energy-saving technology, promotes the utilization of desulfurization ash as a resource, and further taps the potential for system-wide cost reduction and consumption lowering. It deepens “industry-university-research” cooperation, deepening comprehensive collaboration with scientific research institutions such as the Xi’an Modern Chemistry Research Institute and the Shaanxi Coal Technology Research Institute. It conducts process research on mercury-free catalysts for gas-liquid phase and gas-solid phase systems. Relying on its chlor-alkali main business, it tackles technologies such as polyvinyl chloride blending and high-foaming resin, driving the industrial chain toward more refined and higher-end upgrades, injecting scientific and technological momentum into growth in benefits.

Precise management boosts efficiency

Beiyuan Group adheres to balancing “opening new sources” with “tightening cost controls.” On the supply side, it fully leverages the advantages of bidding, centralized procurement, and “trading volume for price.” It introduces major e-commerce platforms, digs deep into the value-creation potential of obsolete materials, and sets a yearly “repair and reuse to benefit from waste” value target of no less than 330k yuan. By the end of February, it has already realized value creation of 1.73 million yuan. It strengthens business coordination: throughout the year, it disposes of products for a fee and purchases cement raw materials for zero cost exceeding 330k tons; in January and February, it has completed 238,000 tons. By the end of February, the inventory materials账-card and shelf-position match rate reaches 100%, and equipment and materials procurement costs have been reduced by 5%. On the sales side, it consolidates the layout of high-end products, tackles high value-added fields such as films and medical applications to increase the share of PVC direct sales. It further develops the caustic soda market, develops the Southwest New Energy market, and grows the annual shipment volume of piece caustic soda by 23.8k tons year over year. In January and February, it increases by 130k tons year over year. It actively opens overseas channels, removes logistics bottlenecks, improves the efficiency of automated loading, ensures that the annual railway logistics total-package dispatch volume is no less than 7 million tons, and achieves both strong production and strong sales as well as improved profitability.
