My classmate was scammed out of 150,000 yuan just the day before yesterday. When she told me about it, she was crying the whole time.
She opened a clothing store. The day before yesterday afternoon, a fashionably dressed woman came into the store to buy clothes.
After she picked out her clothes, the total came to 850 yuan. She was really happy in her heart—finally, she was open for business.
At checkout, the woman took out her phone to scan the QR code, then suddenly said, “Oh no, my phone is out of battery.” She took a power bank out of her bag, plugged her phone in, and charged for two minutes—then she said it still wouldn’t charge.
She then asked my classmate, “Can you help me test your phone? See whether it’s my phone that’s broken or the power bank that’s broken. If it’s my phone that’s broken, I’ll go get it repaired right away.”
The classmate didn’t think much of it and took the power bank, plugging it into her own phone. Suddenly, two characters “Trust” popped up on the screen. She asked the woman, “What does this ‘Trust’ mean?”
The other woman smiled and said, “This is a new feature of the power bank. You just tap ‘Trust,’ and you’ll know whether it can charge or not.”
So the classmate tapped “Trust.” In less than two minutes, the battery really did charge very quickly. She told the woman, “The power bank is fine—it's your phone that’s broken.”
The woman said, “Then I’ll go get my phone repaired. You keep the clothes for me, and I’ll come back to pay after I fix my phone.”
By the evening, she still hadn’t come back. After the classmate got home, she suddenly received a bank debit notification. She was completely stunned—she had saved 150,000 yuan in her bank card for buying a car, and not a single cent remained; it was all transferred away.
