In 2025 annual reports, banks overall maintained stable profit growth rates, but based on the operating signals reflected in the annual reports, the banking industry is still facing pressures such as disposing of existing non-performing assets, declining asset returns, and mark-to-market losses amid volatility in the bond market. More mid-sized and small banks saw negative profit growth, increasing differentiation within the industry, with large banks gaining market share. We observed the following operating signals in the 2025 bank annual reports:

Overall performance remains stable, but differentiation intensifies

Listed banks’ net profit growth rate was 1.4% in 2025, slightly down from 1.9% in 2024. Among that, 4Q25 single-quarter net profit grew 2.5%, continuing the favorable performance trend for the banking sector under the macroeconomic recovery environment that emerged in the second half of last year.
