WHO confirms 13 attacks on Iranian medical facilities

According to data released on the 5th by the World Health Organization, recent military conflicts have already resulted in nearly 1,000 deaths in Iran, and the country’s medical facilities have been attacked 13 times. On the same day, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said at a press briefing that the current conflict in the Middle East has affected 16 countries, with attacks occurring against medical facilities in Iran and Lebanon. On this issue, Tedros stressed that under international humanitarian law, medical facilities must be protected. Tedros also said that the conflict has caused large numbers of civilians to be displaced; as of now, about 100k people have left Iran, and more than 60k people have been displaced within Lebanon. In addition, due to an unstable security situation, the WHO’s Global Health Emergency Logistics Centre in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates, has suspended operations. (Xinhua News Agency)
