Iran: The U.S. keeps claiming to negotiate while continuing to act aggressively, which is unacceptable
[Xinhua Net Feature] A senior Iranian official said on the 27th that the United States was attacking Iran while also claiming it wanted to negotiate—an act that is “intolerable.”
Reuters, citing the official’s remarks, reported that since Iran’s industrial and nuclear facilities were attacked on the 27th, Iran has not yet decided whether to respond further to the ceasefire proposal put forward by the United States, while Iran’s original plan was to respond on the 27th or 28th.
Late on the evening of the 27th, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed that Israeli forces carried out strikes on the Hovdahb heavy-water reactor located in Iran’s central province and on the uranium enrichment facility in the Yazd province in central Iran, saying it “will continue to weaken Iran’s nuclear weapons program.” The International Atomic Energy Agency late that same night released a statement saying it had received notification from Iran that the Bushehr nuclear power plant was attacked again that day, marking the third attack on that plant within 10 days.
Also, according to Iran’s Tasnim news agency, on the 27th the United States and Israel carried out two airstrikes on Kermanšah Province in western Iran, which left 13 people dead, including 4 women and 2 children.
In the early hours of the 28th, the Israel military issued a statement saying it was striking targets of the Iranian regime “across all of Tehran.”
In recent days, the U.S. government has, on the one hand, thrown Iran a “15-point plan” to end the fighting, while on the other hand continuing to send additional troops to the Middle East region. U.S. President Trump’s special envoy, Witko?ff, said on the 27th that the United States hopes to hold a meeting with Iran within a week, and expects Iran to “respond soon” to the “15-point plan.” A spokesperson for Iran’s armed forces said that day that only Iran has the right to set conditions for ending the fighting, and that the United States and Israel would be forced to accept this reality.
