The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and nine other departments issued a notice on the 《Action Plan for Promoting Innovative Development of the Internet of Things Industry (2026—2028)》. By 2028, new technologies, new products, and new models for the Internet of Things will continue to emerge; the industry’s innovation capability will be continuously strengthened; breakthroughs will be made in key technologies such as sensing, networking and communications, data processing, and security; the level of intelligence of terminals and platforms will be significantly improved; more than 50 advanced and applicable standards will be formulated and revised; 10 application areas with 1-billion-level connections and 15 application areas with 100-million-level connections will be cultivated and developed; the number of Internet of Things terminal connections is striving to reach a scale of 35k; and the scale of the Internet of Things core industry will exceed 3.5 trillion yuan.
