** 【Caixin Net】** Climate change and the wave of digitalization are both key forces driving economic transformation. It is wrong to set economic growth against low-carbon development. On March 26, Zou Jiayi, President of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (hereinafter “AIIB”) and Chairwoman of its Board of Directors, attended the 2026 Annual Meeting of the Boao Forum for Asia and made the above remarks.

Zou Jiayi cited examples to say that economic development and green transition move forward side by side in Asia. The application of digital technologies improves the production efficiency of clean energy, and green energy continues to support data centers, which has made artificial intelligence increasingly widespread.

Zou Jiayi also said that strengthening regional cooperation is an important force behind Asia’s push for both green and digital transformation. The ASEAN power grid initiative is a typical example. It is a plan to connect the power systems of ten ASEAN member countries, and it is expected that by 2045 a cross-border, interconnected regional power grid system will be established among Southeast Asian countries. The plan helps integrate renewable energy, promote regional integration, and enhance energy security.
