Xi Jinping: Strengthen the revolutionary training of cadres and maintain the purity and honor of the military

General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee, President of the People’s Republic of China, and Chairman of the Central Military Commission Xi Jinping attended this morning the opening ceremony of the training program for senior officials of the entire armed forces and delivered an important speech. He emphasized that it is necessary to take Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era as guidance, thoroughly implement Xi Jinping’s strong-military thinking for the new era, conduct ideological rectification in the form of a campaign to address ideological problems, deepen political rectification, strengthen the revolutionary forging of the cadre ranks, and always keep the People’s Army pure and glorious,迎接 the centenary of the founding of the army with a brand-new political outlook.

Xi Jinping said that leading military cadres, especially senior cadres, must take the lead in rigorously observing intra-Party political life, serve as a model for speaking the truth, cultivate a magnanimous demeanor that can accommodate others, and create a strong atmosphere where people speak the facts, offer forthright criticisms, and dare to fight. There must be no special personal interests; any thinking and conduct aimed at private gain and corruption are incompatible with the Party’s nature and purposes.

He also urged that officials at all levels in the armed forces must consciously put themselves in the proper position, stand firm on the viewpoint of the masses, overcome all private and self-interested notions that separate them from the masses, set aside the airs of office and return to the true character of revolutionary soldiers, so that the new style of conduct and righteousness will be even more fully present in the forces. They should understand laws and disciplines, be clear on rules and regulations, and know to show reverence. They should ensure that everyone is equal before laws, regulations, and institutions; there are no exceptions to complying with laws, regulations, and institutions, and there are no allowances when it comes to enforcing them.

Xi Jinping believes that the People’s Army will surely be able to achieve unprecedented unity and cohesion under the new historical conditions, and write a new chapter in building and strengthening the army that is worthy of the revolutionary predecessors, worthy of the century-old foundation, and worthy of the great era.
