OpenAI plans to reserve a portion of IPO shares for retail investors

OpenAI’s Chief Financial Officer Sarah Friar said on Wednesday that the company plans to set aside some shares in its initial public offering (IPO) for retail investors to subscribe. Last year, there were reports that the AI startup was preparing for an IPO, with a valuation that could be as high as $1 trillion, and that it may submit a listing application to securities regulators as early as the second half of 2026.
