๐Ÿ”ฅAnthropic Failed to Temporarily Block the Pentagon from Blacklisting It

On April 9, a federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. rejected Anthropicโ€™s request for a temporary restraining order to prevent the Department of Defense from blacklisting it. The company is suing over the sanctions. Previously, a judge in a federal court in San Francisco issued a preliminary injunction at the end of last month in another related case, barring the Trump administration from enforcing the ban on using its Claude artificial intelligence model. In its ruling, the appellate court said that balancing fairness favors the government, and the risk of economic losses to private companies is relatively smaller. It also said that during a military conflict, the Ministry of Warโ€™s access to AI technology requires judicial oversight, so it dismissed the motion to stay execution pending substantive review of the case.
