Deep Tide TechFlow News, April 9th, according to Decrypt, Bitcoin ATM operator Bitcoin Depot filed documents with the U.S. SEC revealing that on March 23rd, the company experienced a cybersecurity attack. Hackers gained access to digital asset settlement account credentials by infiltrating the IT system, stealing approximately 50.9 BTC from the company's wallet, worth about $3.67M.
Following the incident, the company activated its emergency response procedures, hired external cybersecurity experts to investigate, and notified law enforcement agencies. The company stated that the customer platform and user data were unaffected. This incident has been classified as a major event by the company and may lead to reputational damage as well as additional legal and regulatory costs.
