The supply chain is beginning to fluctuate. South Korea's chip giant is urgently checking helium stockpiles.
“The Korea Times” reported on 11 that as shipping risks in the Strait of Hormuz rise, the supply chains for key raw materials such as helium have begun to fluctuate. As a core industrial gas needed for semiconductor manufacturing, helium is mainly extracted from liquefied natural gas (LNG). To prevent the risk from expanding further, major Korean chip companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix have conducted a comprehensive check of their helium inventory status. Industry insiders in South Korea said that in the short term, finding alternative supplies of helium is not easy, and expensive U.S. natural gas could become a fallback option. (Global Times)
