Iranian President's Open Letter to the American People: The Iranian People Have No Hostility Toward Other Countries
Local time on April 1, Iranian President Pezeshkian published an open letter to the American people.
In his letter, Pezeshkian said that the Iranian people have no hostility toward other countries, including the peoples of the Americas, Europe, or neighboring countries. The United States, however, has amassed large numbers of military bases and military forces around Iran, creating a military threat to Iran. What Iran has taken—and will continue to take—is a response based on the right of lawful self-defense; it is absolutely not about starting a war or engaging in aggression.
Pezeshkian also said that the destructive impact of sanctions, war, and aggression on the lives of the Iranian people cannot be underestimated. Attacking Iran’s vital infrastructure—including energy and industrial facilities—constitutes a war crime.
Pezeshkian further questioned whether the United States’ current policies truly align with the core interests of “America First.” He said that the United States has now effectively become Israel’s proxy, striking at Iran under policies that are heavily influenced by and manipulated by the Israeli regime. Israel, in turn, is trying to divert global society’s attention from the crimes it has committed in Palestine by deliberately fabricating the “Iran threat narrative.”
In addition, Pezeshkian invited the American public to break free from the constraints of political talking points and to reexamine Iran’s past, present, and vision for the future—a peaceful future built not on confrontation, but on truth, dignity, and mutual understanding.
