Five-Year Milestone: A Seed Through Wind and Rain — Fude Life Insurance's "Little Dolphin Program - Big Hand in Little Hand" Series Report

Abstract generation in progress

In the E’sastern Hills of winter, mountain villages are steeped in a faint, misty drizzle and the cold air. The car gradually drove into Tuanfeng County, Linshanghe Township. In the distance, you could see a figure standing at the door, looking around—Xiao Meng (a pseudonym). Beside her was her hair-whitened grandmother. With five years of time, it was as if this moment quietly folded it up: that little girl from back then who had tightly grabbed her grandmother’s clothing corner and only dared to peek out with half her small face, timidly sizing up the world, was no longer there. The Xiao Meng before you stood tall and straight, with clear, bright eyes; she smiled before she even spoke—like a small tree that, in winter, still kept trying to grow toward the sunlight.

Xiao Meng, born in 2010, had her childhood darkened far too early. Her father passed away, her mother left home, and the heavy burden of living pressed heavily on her elderly, frequently ill grandpa and grandma. Grandpa’s eyesight was almost gone, and grandma was tormented year after year by lumbar pain; this family had once been teetering in the wind and rain. Until that winter of 2021—when a beam of warmth firmly knocked at the door.

Aid First Seen: Warmth Knocking at the Door in the Cold Winter Rain

On December 12, 2021, the cold wind wrapped strands of icy rain. He Jie, the person in charge of Fude Life Insurance’s Huanggang Central Branch, accompanied by volunteers, set off along the winding village road with the earnest instructions and caring supplies from Gui Yansheng, Party Committee Secretary and General Manager of the Hubei branch—just to rush to fulfill a promise.

It was a plain, old house, with winter firewood neatly stacked in the corner of a wall. Hearing the sound of the car, grandma helped grandpa, and, together with Xiao Meng’s sisters, they came out to welcome them. Back then, Xiao Meng was almost entirely hidden behind her sister—only a pair of eyes visible, filled with unfamiliarity, restraint, and a hint of expectation that was hard to detect.

The volunteers were busy moving the education grant, living necessities, and the clothing and stationery that the employees of Huanggang Central Branch had donated of their own accord into the house. The originally chilly front hall gradually filled up with supplies and people’s warmth, becoming warm. He Jie tightly held grandma’s rough hand and conveyed Gui Yansheng’s concern: “General Gui specifically instructed that when the weather gets cold, you must make sure the elderly and the children eat their fill and are dressed warmly. If there is any difficulty, tell us anytime.”

When the volunteers crouched down and gently placed the colored marker pens and the new school backpack into Xiao Meng’s hands, she didn’t speak. Instead, her small hands tightly gripped that pen; her long eyelashes drooped, as if she were confirming the reality and value of this sudden warmth.

Five Years of Ongoing Care: A Warm Runway With No End Point

A promise—can it have multiple meanings? For the “Little Dolphin Program” and Gui Yansheng, its weight was five years’ worth of care that had never once been interrupted.

From 2021 to 2025, no matter how busy the work became, this care had never “broken the connection.” Gui Yansheng may not have been able to personally make it every time, but each year, the volunteers from Huanggang Central Branch would carry his intentions and arrive on schedule—like going to a springtime agreement that never changes.

On October 29, 2022, Gui Yansheng decided he must go see the child in person. The clear, bright morning sunlight of autumn pierced through the air. He drove hundreds of kilometers again and arrived at that courtyard, which was no longer unfamiliar. From far away, you could see Xiao Meng sprawled on a small table under the eaves, concentrating on her homework. The moment she recognized who had gotten out of the car, her eyes lit up like suddenly kindled stars—she immediately put down her pen and hurried over. Even though she was still a bit shy, that familiar closeness had already replaced the initial timidity.

Gui Yansheng handed her the education grant, school bag, books, and warm clothing, then crouched down and said gently, “Child, remember: difficulties in life are temporary. You need to study hard and grow strong in adversity so that in the future you can become someone with responsibility and ability.” After that, he carefully asked about grandpa and grandma’s health and what else was still missing in the house. Before leaving, he left his phone number and told Xiao Meng, “No matter what happens in the future—whether it’s about your studies or your day-to-day life—call Uncle Gui anytime.”

“Always here.” Those four words built the most solid psychological support for this family that had weathered wind and rain.

Nourishing Love: From “Beneficiary” to “Seeder”

Love’s nurturing can quietly rewrite the script of a life. Five years of companionship—like fine rain nourishing things quietly—had already allowed that seed, carefully tended, to break through the soil. Not only did it grow out sturdy branches and stems, it also blossomed into flowers of gratitude.

Now Xiao Meng studies diligently, with excellent results—she is a good student in her teachers’ eyes; at home, she is thoughtful and hardworking—a “little cotton-padded jacket” that warms grandma and grandpa’s hearts. The increasing number of radiant smiles on her face is the best response to kindness. In the things grandpa and grandma keep saying, there is more and more comfort: “The child has grown up and become sensible.”

That girl who might once have been crushed by fate, under the shelter of love, not only straightened her back; inside her, a resilient and warm flower also bloomed—one “turning toward the sun” flower that is willing to shelter others from wind and rain.

A Glimmer Ignites: A Thirteen-Year Continuous Charity Relay Run

Xiao Meng’s story is not unique. She is a snapshot of thousands of “one-on-one” assistance stories under Fude Life Insurance’s “Little Dolphin Program.” This public welfare initiative began in 2013 and has continued for thirteen years to date. Through the model of “help with supplies + insurance protection + psychological support,” it has cumulatively carried out more than 1,800 activities, donated over 39 million yuan worth of caring supplies, and brought light to more than 180,000 children in difficult circumstances nationwide.

More importantly, it builds a warm system. From company managers to ordinary employees, more than 5,000 volunteers participate, providing long-term, precise companionship to more than 3,000 children. This is not only material assistance, but also spiritual guidance and a watchful care for the heart.

Five years of guardianship—quietly waiting for the blossoms to bloom. Xiao Meng’s life has been lit up by a warm encounter. And this “Little Dolphin Program,” a charity long-distance run “with no end point,” is still ongoing. It will continue along countless roads leading to those in need, sowing the seeds of love, safeguarding more childhoods in hardship—so that every act of kindness will ultimately gather into light that shines on the future.
