Iran: The Strait of Hormuz Will Remain Blocked Until the US and Iran Reach a Negotiation Framework

CNN reports that an Iranian security official stated that the Strait of Hormuz will continue to be blocked until Iran and the United States reach a joint negotiation framework, due to the US's excessive demands.

Iran emphasizes that it is not in a hurry to act, and the current situation remains unchanged, with no possibility of increasing the number of ships passing through.

On April 11, CNN reported that an Iranian security official said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain blocked until Iran and the US reach a "joint framework" for continued negotiations. The official stated that the US has made "excessive demands" on several issues, including key waterways, which has so far prevented both sides from reaching a common basis and advancing negotiations.

The official said, "Iran is not in a hurry to take action." Tehran has conveyed to Washington that, until a joint framework is reached, "the current situation in the Strait of Hormuz will remain unchanged," and "even the previously agreed number of ships passing through will not be achievable."

If US negotiators do not demonstrate a "realistic prospect," the strait will remain closed.
