Trump's exclusive interview in full force: Powell won't last a few months, and Schumer will be destroyed by the Republicans

During an exclusive interview with Fox News on Monday night, President Trump harshly criticized overwhelmed air traffic controllers, attributed economic weakness to political opponents, and claimed that increased food stamp recipients have plunged the country into a crisis.

In the interview with Laura Ingraham, the president shared his views on a wide range of topics, from housing mortgages to foreign policy, interspersed with attacks on political rivals prompted by Ingraham’s questions—including California Governor Gavin Newsom and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer.

At the time of the interview, the Senate was voting to end the longest government shutdown in U.S. history. Trump outlined his ideas for resolving the healthcare subsidy issue, which is at the core of the current funding deadlock.

The Democratic Party has been pushing to extend tax credit policies that help millions of Americans afford healthcare under the Affordable Care Act, but these credits are set to expire at the end of the year. Republicans have condemned the policy, claiming it only benefits insurance companies.

“I want the funds to go into personal accounts so people can buy their own health insurance,” he told Ingraham, suggesting the strategy could be called “Trump Care,” “so they feel like entrepreneurs, truly able to negotiate their own insurance plans.”

Ingraham also asked about Trump’s recent posts on Truth Social criticizing air traffic controllers—due to nationwide staffing shortages causing flight delays and safety concerns, many controllers have taken temporary leave amid high stress.

The Federal Aviation Administration was already facing a shortage of controllers at the start of the government shutdown. With salaries halted, the crisis worsened. According to the National Air Traffic Controllers Association, many work up to 10 hours daily, six days a week, without pay, struggling to make ends meet. Some have had to take part-time jobs to sustain themselves.

Meanwhile, thousands of flights have been canceled at the busiest airports across the country.

“Everyone’s life isn’t easy,” Trump said in the interview. “Our country is in the best period in history, and we shouldn’t be letting people leave their jobs.”

Trump also reaffirmed his promise to give a $10,000 bonus to those who worked throughout the shutdown. When asked about the source of the funds, he replied, “I don’t know. I’ll always find a way. I’ll get the money somehow, no problem.”

Regarding other economic issues, Trump dismissed concerns about rising costs.

When Ingraham asked for his opinion on the cost of living and whether more price reductions are needed, he denied there was a problem: “Ultimately, this is a Democratic scam. Costs have already come down significantly.”

When asked about a 50-year mortgage proposal that would extend the repayment period by 20 years, he said, “That’s not a big deal.”

“I mean extending from 40 to 50 years,” he clarified, but Ingraham corrected him, pointing out it was from 30 to 50 years.

Trump then took the opportunity to criticize Biden and the “bad Federal Reserve chairman” Jerome Powell, claiming Powell “will be stepping down in a few months.”

“If a normal person were in charge, the Federal Reserve would have kept interest rates extremely low,” he stated.

He reiterated his claim that the U.S. economy is the strongest in history: “I think polls are fake. We have the greatest economy ever.”

The president responded to all criticism—whether from political opponents or allies—with a full counterattack.

“Making America Great Again is my philosophy. I understand the MAGA movement better than anyone. They want to see the country prosper,” he said in response to Ingraham’s question about whether he has strayed from his core base.

However, Trump did defend Republican policies and attributed the shutdown to Republican lawmakers—pointing out that the final funding compromise did not include subsidies for the Affordable Care Act.

When asked about Chuck Schumer, who faces calls to step down, Trump said he’s just overly ambitious: “He thought he could take down the Republican Party, but in the end, the Republicans destroyed him.”
