Founder LinkedIn Says Crypto and NFTs Play a Crucial Role in the AI Era
Speaking at Consensus 2026 on Wednesday (5/6), LinkedIn co-founder Reid Hoffman revealed that blockchain technology plays a very crucial role in supporting the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem, especially as a payment infrastructure for AI Agents that require automated transaction systems without limits.
Hoffman argues that as AI agents become more autonomous in completing tasks, they need fast and programmable payment systems. Additionally, he highlights blockchain's role in validating humanity in the digital world (proving humanity). Amid the surge of machine-generated content, Hoffman sees NFTs as a potential primary tool for secure and verified digital identities.
As an early investor who has been in Bitcoin since 2014, Hoffman affirms his unwavering long-term commitment. He states that he has never sold a single Bitcoin holding in the past 12 years. When asked on stage at Consensus about what the ideal selling price might be, Hoffman responded firmly: "Is there really such a thing as a selling price?" This statement further reinforces his view that Bitcoin is a fundamental asset that will remain relevant amid AI integration in the future.
