Israel Attacks Lebanon, Targets Hezbollah Elite Force Commander After Ceasefire

Israeli military launched airstrikes on the southern outskirts of Beirut on Wednesday (05/06), marking the first attack on Lebanon's capital since the ceasefire began last month. According to Bloomberg, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Israeli Defense Minister Katz confirmed that the operation targeted Radwan Force commander, an Iran-backed Hezbollah elite unit. The attack in the densely populated Haret Hreik neighborhood involved fighter jets and missile fire from warships, although there has been no official confirmation of the target's death to date.
This military action occurs amid efforts by the United States and Iran to formulate a new peace proposal to end the conflict. Tehran has issued threats to withdraw from the ceasefire with the US if the Israeli military continues operations in Lebanon. Meanwhile, Netanyahu emphasized that his side is maintaining intensive coordination with President Donald Trump, amid uncertainty over the high-level meeting plan between Lebanon and Israel initially scheduled by international mediators.
