Gate News bot message, with the full implementation of the on-chain governance model defined in CIP-1694, the Cardano ecosystem is taking the next steps to solidify the community’s governance leadership. At the heart of this new era is the election of the constitutional committee (CC), which is responsible for upholding the principles of the Cardano constitution.

The election assisted by Intersect has now started, with 19 candidates competing for seven CC seats. These individuals, companies, and alliances are competing to ensure the constitutional responsibility of future governance actions. CC, as an institution, is responsible for interpreting whether future governance actions comply with the Cardano constitution.

As an active member of the Interim Constitutional Committee (iCC), the Cardano Foundation has been reviewing and voting on the constitutionality of governance actions and publishing these review results since the Chang hard fork, while serving the community. The Foundation has decided not to seek re-election this time in order to step down from the position and support other candidates as governance develops to a self-sustaining stage.

The foundation will continue to fulfill the responsibilities of the iCC until the end of the term and will step down when the new committee assumes office.
