Odaily News Telegram founder Pavel Durov spoke at Blockchain Life 2025 held in Dubai. He stated, “It has been over a year since I last came to Dubai, and a lot has changed in the world: Telegram has achieved 1 billion monthly active users; I spent some time in Paris” (referring to his arrest incident); three types of markets are booming—(1) the market for electronic collectibles related to social media, (2) mini apps, which have made some people rich while others have been scammed, and (3) AI. And we (Telegram) are positioned at the intersection of blockchain, AI, and social media." Durov believes that Telegram is the best interface for interacting with AI. This is because centralized AI service providers collect user information and manipulate users, and some people have realized that they do not like being used by AI giants. For this reason, Telegram will launch Cocoon (Confidential Compute Open Network) in November—allowing GPU owners to provide Computing Power to mine TON, APP developers to access low-cost AI computation, and users to maintain privacy while using AI products. Telegram will spark demand and heated discussions around Cocoon. At the end of his speech, Durov called on the audience to stand up for their rights and freedoms.
