Abstract generation in progress

OpenAI has recently announced a collaboration with Foxconn to jointly design and manufacture data center hardware in the United States, including server racks, wiring, and power systems. This collaboration is not tied to procurement volumes but highlights OpenAI's intention to strengthen the localization of the AI Supply Chain and consolidate the core technology production capacity of AI in the United States.

Both parties jointly designed an AI data center rack for mass production in the United States.

OpenAI announced a collaboration with Foxconn to jointly design and develop server racks for AI data centers, establishing manufacturing capabilities in the United States. Foxconn will also be responsible for providing critical hardware such as wiring and power systems.

This agreement does not bind procurement volumes, focusing on “co-design” and “Made in America.” OpenAI CEO Sam Altman stated that this collaboration helps ensure that the core technologies of the AI era can be produced in the United States and strengthens America's leadership in AI.

Strengthen the Supply Chain and continuously sign large-scale collaborations.

In the past few months, OpenAI has continued to expand its AI infrastructure, signing collaborations with several major tech companies, including:

NVIDIA

AMD: Ensure GPU and accelerator supply.

Broadcom: Procurement agreement signed in October.

Oracle, SoftBank: Promoting investment in large AI data centers in the United States.

Due to the large amount of cooperation, there are concerns in the market about the “AI bubble”, but OpenAI continues to maintain rapid expansion.

500 billion AI infrastructure project StarGate: Hon Hai is also a partner

OpenAI previously collaborated with Oracle and SoftBank to invest $500 billion in building AI data centers and computing infrastructure in the United States, known externally as the StarGate project.

Foxconn is also one of the partners, and it has expanded its AI server production capacity in the United States to meet the U.S. government's requirements for localized AI hardware while reducing tariff risks.

Hon Hai expands its layout and actively enters the AI hardware supply chain.

For Hon Hai, this cooperation symbolizes a gradual expansion of the role of AI servers and data center hardware, reducing reliance on the iPhone assembly business, and demonstrating its ability to assist clients in integrating their own designs into the data center architecture. As for how much financial contribution the partnership with OpenAI can bring to Hon Hai, it remains unclear.

On the same day that Foxconn announced its collaboration with OpenAI, it also announced a partnership with Intrinsic, a robotics software company under Google’s parent company Alphabet, to collaborate in the AI data center field, indicating that its layout in the US AI infrastructure is continuing to accelerate.
